We took part in some Crowdcast online presentations for Science Week. We learned about the "Ugliest Animal in the World" - the Blobfish. He is covered in oli and floats at the bottom of the ocean. We set up an experiment to show that oil floats in water - and it did! We also took part in another online event about "The Secret Science of Santa". We learned so much about how Santa does what he does and we got to ask lots of questions too!
How do flowers and plants drink water? We decided to set up an experiment to see how plants drink. We used four different colours to dye the water, put the plants/flowers in the water and then we waited to see what would happen... We could see from the colour of the leaves and petals that the water had travelled up the stem!
We finally filled our jar full of cotton wool balls! This means only one thing..... a pizza and popcorn party!
In Maths we have been learning all about fractions - halves and quarters. We painted flowers and umbrellas in halves and quarters We used cubes and shared them into halves and quarters We even cut our pizzas into halves and quarters!
